The general public may have a view that vets are hardened to the euthanisation of animals, but this is not the case. With every euthanasia, no matter how necessary, there is a dark cloud. You are often the last one to look into an animal's eyes or stroke their fur. Often, you have to hide your own emotions for the sake of the owner or leave a room early before you reveal how upset you are. The cases can sit with you for days, weeks, years afterwards and you question if you made the right decisio
