Dog Gets Loaded Onto Bus By Mistake On Long Island, Search Ensues: PD The small dog had a big adventure in the Hamptons on Sunday afternoon, police say..

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A little dog had a big adventure on Long Island Sunday afternoon.

According to Southampton Town police, at about 1:17 p.m., officers responded to the report of a lost dog at the Long Island Rail Road station, located at 30 Maple Avenue in Bridgehampton.

"Responding officers quickly realized this was not a traditional lost or runaway pet scenario," police said.

The woman who called police told them that she was at the train station with her son, 16, who wanted to catch the train and head to Babylon, police said.

While at the train station, they discovered that the train service was not operating and that, instead, they would need to travel to Babylon via bus, police said. As the pair tried to clarify what needed to be done, their dog Biscuit, an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, who was in his pet carrier, was unknowingly loaded onto the bus, police said.

The woman and her son decided not to take the bus and, in the confusion, they did

not realize the dog had been loaded onto the bus, and left, police said.

The pair began to search desperately for their dog, which prompted the call to 911, police said.

The responding officer, after speaking with woman, relayed the information to dispatch; Southampton Town police dispatchers began to call multiple agencies in an effort to try to locate the bus, as well as to find an agency to assist in locating the small dog, who was on the bus, police said.

The Babylon Village code enforcement agency responded to the Babylon train station, where Biscuit was located safe and sound, police said.

A short while later, Biscuit was reunited with his family.
