Dolly Parton gives a massive donation to the Salvation Army before Red Kettle Kickoff
Dolly Parton is performing at halftime of the Dallas Cowboys game against the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving.
The halftime show is called the Red Kettle Kickoff and is a part of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.
This year will be the 27th Red Kettle Kickoff and before she takes the stage Parton announced on X, formerly Twitter, that she would donate $1 million to the Salvation Army.

The Red Kettle Campaign, which is the longest-running of its kind, is in its 133rd year and solicits donations to provide Christmas gifts, food, shelter, rent and utility assistance to those in need.
Parton is a known philanthropist and has donated to a wide range of causes including helping to fund the creation of the Moderna vaccine for Covid-19 and educational scholarships through her Dollywood Foundation .
Parton explained what drives her philanthropy in the announcement with Cowboys executive vice president Charlotte Jones.
“There is a feeling that you get when you do give, and I give from the heart,” said Parton, “Love and giving is what it should be about.”
