Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks talks about returning to Seattle to face Seahawks

Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks is back in town, this time as a member of the Miami Dolphins .

After completing his rookie contract, the 2020 first-round pick signed with the Dolphins on a three-year contract worth just over $26 million in free agency. Sunday's Week 3 matchup between Seattle and Miami will mark Brooks' return to Lumen Field, but in a different uniform.

At Monday's media availability session in Miami , Brooks was asked about whether he thought the Seahawks would re-sign him, as well as what coming back to Seattle means to him.

"Yeah, I spent my first four years there," Brooks said. "It was a good thing for me, but it'll be good to go back and get to play against those guys. I think it will be a great opportunity for me."

"A lot of the guys on defense that I played with, a lot of the younger guys," Brooks added when asked about whether he's close with any of his former teammates. "It will be good to see them and then compete against them."

Miami's hopes of pulling off an upset will likely depend on stopping a Seahawks pass attack led by quarterback Geno Smith, who was a backup to Russell Wilson when Brooks joined the team and is now in his third season as a starter. Brooks recalled what what stood out to him most about Smith.

"Just his preparation. He was there my first two years. When he was sitting behind 'Rus,' (Russell Wilson) he prepared the same way as if he was going to play. When he got his opportunity, it wasn't a shock. So I've always respected him for that, just how he approached the game."

Brooks isn't the only former Seahawks player on the Dolphins roster. Wide receiver Dee Eskridge landed on the Miami practice squad after he was waived in August, and he's been elevated for tomorrow's matchup due to the dearth of healthy receivers on the roster.
