Donate costumes, bring spooky season to life for SYS kids

WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — No child should have to miss out on Halloween fun because they can't afford a costume. One local youth center is trying to prevent that.

The Southside Youth Senter at 1205 Montgomery Street is now accepting donations for its Fall Festival. These donations include costumes, accessories, trick-or-treating buckets, and unopened makeup. Even things such as wands, masks, and capes that don't make a full costume will benefit the children.

Donations can be dropped off at SYS, Wichita Falls Ballet Theater , Spa Bella Salon and Spa , or either Sports Clips location in Wichita Falls.

Executive Director Tyler Preston said this event is free and open to everyone in the Wichita Falls area, no questions asked.

"Our kids have too much to worry about right now anyway," Preston said, continuing, "So this is just Southside's way of taking some of the stress off not only the kids but the parents as well."

The Fall Festival will be held on October 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the SYS gym. In addition to the costume giveaway, there will be food and games.

From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will also be a sensory-friendly giveaway for those with special needs or those who want to escape media exposure.
