JOPLIN, Mo. — A donation made Thursday (11/7) could help save the lives of many.

The Mercy Foundation was the recipient of a check for $7,500 dollars from Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation.

The money will help cover the cost of breast cancer detection — particularly for those who are uninsured, under insured, or have high deductibles and can't afford a mammogram screening.

Hope 4 You has an all-volunteer staff and relies on various fundraisers throughout the year to make life-saving donations.

"Early detection is the key and toady may save a lot of lives, it may save one, we don't know, but early detection is the key and that's where the mammograms come in," said Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation President, Sharon Clark.

"We have so many stories that are success stories of patients that have saved their lives by this mammogram being paid for and it has went on to save their lives for many years to watch their children grow, watch their grandchildren," said Mercy Breast Center Supervisor, Melissa Hammond.
