Donegal issues boil-water advisory

D.Martin3 hr ago

In response to a motor vehicle accident that knocked over a fire hydrant on Friday, Donegal Township has announced a boil water advisory that will be in effect until further notice.

The township issued the advisory on Friday following the traffic accident, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the township's water supply after a loss of water pressure occurred.

The state Department of Environmental Protection advised residents not to drink water without boiling it first. The DEP recommends bringing all water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and allow to cool before using.

It also suggests using boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

Inadequately treated water can contain disease-causing organisms including bacteria, viruses and parasites.

A notice was posted on the township website.
