ortha Lavina Gibbons, 82, of Adams Drive, Hunlock Creek, died Thursday at
the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.



Born Feb. 22, 1919 in Hunlock Creek, she was the daughter of the late
William and Grace (Cragle) Sorber. She was a graduate of Harter High School,
West Nanticoke. She worked many years at Luzerne Outerwear and in later years
worked at Bass Dress Manufacturing, Plymouth. She was a member of the Hunlock
Creek United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and sister, Guida Thomas.

Surviving are her daughter, Sylvia Major, Shickshinny; sons, John, Berwick;
Robert, Lake Ariel; and Richard, Swoyersville; 10 grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren; and brothers, Doyle, Stillwater; Gerald, Hunlock Creek;
and Neal, Harding, Exeter Township.



Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Clarke Piatt Funeral
Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev. Karen Allen
officiating. Interment will be in Lehman Cemetery, Lehman. Friends may call
from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
