Doylestown Area Businesses Team Up For First Ever Mission Month Throughout November, businesses will be offering specials and donating proceeds from sales to veteran causes.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — How does a Purple Heart Old Fashioned sound? What about a Heroes Roll? Sound tempting?
Both are on the menu during Mission Month (November), a brand new community-wide initiative aimed at raising funds for the Doylestown-based Travis Manion Foundation while showcasing Bucks County's small businesses.
The new event is the brainchild of Doylestown realtors Jaimie Meehan and Leigh Nunno who were looking to expand the philanthropic arm of their business while engaging the public and the business community in a project benefiting veterans through the Travis Manion Foundation .
The mission of the foundation, named in memory of fallen Bucks County soldier Travis Manion, is to develop programs, training opportunities, and events designed to empower veterans and families of the fallen, and then inspire them to pass on their values to the next generation and the community at large.
For Mission Month, the women, who work together at the Melissa Healy Group at Keller Williams, have brought together 10 Bucks County businesses to raise funds for veterans causes by offering in-store and one-time-only specials or donating a percentage of their sales.
"It's really neat what some of our businesses have come up with for Mission Month," said the women. "Frost Lounge has created a special cocktail for the month of November. Ooka is serving a Heroes Roll. Serenity Spa is offering two great pop up services - the Manion Massage and the Manion Honor Facial. It's a way for the community to get involved while encouraging eating local and shopping local for our veterans," said the women.
