SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Public Library Foundation hosted a unique fundraiser Saturday in an effort to support local literacy programs.

The SAPLF held their first-ever "Over the Edge" fundraiser where people repelled down the 20-story Thompson San Antonio -Riverwalk Hotel - on the side facing the Central Library.

"Once they repel, they get down to the bottom, they're super excited. Every single person has said they would do this again and then we have a landing zone where friends and family can watch a live stream from the roof. And everybody that's been in that landing zone has said 'we're signing up next time,'" Executive Director Amy Hone said.

According to SAPLF, the event was completely safe for all participants. "Over the Edge" Global has a 20 year safety track record, hosting more than 1500 events at over 500 different buildings.

Every year, SAPLF raises nearly $1 million for San Antonio libraries.
