NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will officially be inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame on Thursday (Oct. 17) during halftime of the Saints' game against the Denver Broncos, coached by none other than former Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Ahead of his induction, Brees was honored at a Hall of Fame luncheon, where hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the legendary quarterback's 15-year career in New Orleans.

During his tenure, Brees earned 12 Pro Bowl appearances, led the team to nine playoff appearances, three NFC Championship appearances, and delivered a Super Bowl victory in the Superdome in 2010.

"Your arrival in New Orleans in 2006 was the dawn of a new era for our franchise," Saints owner Gayle Benson said during the luncheon.

Brees holds multiple records with the Saints, including most games played and most passing yards.

"He gave us all hope and gave everybody hope to bring the city back to what it is today," said former Saints player Jimmy Graham during the event.

During his speech, Brees reflected on the honor of joining the Saints Hall of Fame, having watched many of his former teammates be inducted years prior.

"It's been a joy and it reminds you of why we play this game... to be the best and bring home championships," he said.
