Drowning Pool Returns To Lubbock For Toys For Tots Show
Texas favorite rockers Drowning Pool are returning to Lubbock- and this time it's for a great cause.
Drowning Pool will perform on Friday, December 13th at Jake's Backroom to benefit Toys For Tots.
You know a Friday night rock show is going to be for the party people.
Tickets will go on sale soon, so check Jake's Facebook page for updates [we will update this page when we know, too]. Drowning Pool will feature support from fellow Texans Stoneside.
Drowning Pool began in Dallas, Texas in 1996 as an instrumental trio, which is still the core of the band to this day.
Drowning Pool went big after touring with bands like Sevendust, Kittie, and Hed PE. Imagine seeing that lineup in the late '90s/ early 2000s, although if you've been a rock fan long enough, you probably did.
Drowning Pool has had several hard rock hits including their signature track Bodies, which has been in several TV shows and movies including most memorably (in my opinion) 2001 WWF Summerslam.
The song was not without a whole mess of controversy- everything from wild misinterpretations about the meaning of the song (it's really about moshing) to its use as (checks notes) torture in Guantanamo Bay.
It was also briefly pulled by many rock radio stations after 9/11, despite being a huge hit at the time, again, as its lyrics were misinterpreted and seen as inappropriate given the circumstances.
However, Drowning Pool is NOT a one-hit-wonder band by any means. Click here for a really great analysis of Drowning Pool's 15 best songs.
A Friday night of hard Texas rock? We are so there.
