DUI Arrest, Commercial Burglary: Newtown Township Police Report Police also investigate theft of fiber optic cable, make outstanding warrant arrest during traffic stop.
— The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14:
November 8
At approximately 2:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Toyota Tundra for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.November 9
Around noon police were dispatched to Lower Dolington Road for the theft of a Verizon fiber optic cable that occurred overnight. An investigation is ongoing.November 12
At approximately 3:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Honda Civic for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. As a result of the investigation, a woman was taken into custody without incident on active arrest warrants from Bucks County Probation and Philadelphia County Probation. Suspected narcotics were also discovered and seized as evidence and narcotic and false I.D. to law enforcement charges are pending.Shortly before 10 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street. During an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.November 13
A Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters at 3:35 p.m. to report a fraud involving false pretenses. The total value of the loss was $4,000 and the investigation is ongoing.November 14
