Catherine Bach stepped out of the house to pick up some pet food in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 19, in a rare public appearance for The Dukes of Hazzard star.

The actress sported a casual black ensemble – a long sleep top with leggings and sandals – accessorized with a back cross-body bag and sunglasses.

How Did Catherine Bach Get Famous?

The Ohio native started as a child actress in a stage production of The Sound of Music. She made her first screen appearance in 1973 with The Middle Man, but it was landing her iconic role as Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard that made her a household name.

She was hired on the spot during her audition. "After I did my reading during the audition, there was total silence. I thought, 'Oh no, they didn't like what I did.' Then everyone, we're talking about 30 people, got up and started clapping," she remembered. "They just connected with my vision of how this part should be played. Two weeks later, I was on a plane to Georgia."

She told CMT News in 2005, "I think what made Daisy Duke stand out is that I am a 'sex symbol' who never took her clothes off and never had a love scene."

"I never did anything embarrassing. And by the way, to this day, people know that I'm not going to shock them or surprise them with some crazy thing. Somebody's got to be able to carry the bottom line and have a dignified life and not be crazy. And I guess that's just gonna be me."

Catherine credits this down-to-earth approach for helping The Dukes reach new heights.

"The audience helped shape our show," she said. "Somebody told me, and it really stuck with me, that everybody can watch this show, from 3 years old to 90 years old. You don't have to get up from the television and turn your back or put your hands over your kids' eyes, because you know you're not going to be shocked or rudely taken aback by The Dukes of Hazzard. You're just going to laugh, and you can just relax and have fun. And I was proud of that, as well."

Will There Be a 'Dukes' Reboot?

When asked whether or not she would consider a reboot of her famous show, Catherine said, "Well, you know, shows are a mystical thing at best, because you never know what's going to work and how things are going to click."

"And you have to have a good writer. It can't just be writing on an idea."

"You have to execute that idea. So, yeah, if everything comes together. Of course," the '70s icon added. "I'm still here, the guys are still here. It would be great, but I don't know."

For now, she told fans that the only way they would catch her in her characters famous outfit, a red plaid button down shirt tied at the midriff with cut off jean shorts – which Catherine had actually suggested to showrunners herself – is "if you come to my house and watch me garden."
