Dungannon: Child found dead named locally

A child who died in County Tyrone has been named locally as Tavia Da Costa.

She was due to turn two later this month and has connections to the East Timorese community in Dungannon.

The toddler died at an address in Windmill Court in Dungannon on Sunday and the death is being treated as "suspicious" by police.

A man and two women, all aged in their 20s, have been arrested.

Roy Setiawan, chair of the Timorese Association Inclusive Support, said the community was "heartbroken".

He added: "It's just a shock to the whole community, the East Timorese community, but also it's disturbing for the whole community of Dungannon.

"It is just really sad and I would like to reach out to our community and the wider community to express our condolences and our deepest sympathy to those who are mentally and physically affected by this tragic incident."

He added the group are "fully cooperating" with the police and appeal to everyone in the community to respect the privacy of the family.
