The Duryea Borough Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the municipal building. The purpose of the special meeting is the open all bids received for the renovations of the municipal building.
Duryea Borough Council was awarded a grant to make the municipal building handicap accessible. A handicap lift will be installed in the main entrance as well as updating the bathrooms to be handicap accessible as per uniform construction codes. Other renovations included are a new roof, new carpeting, new garage doors, and new concrete sidewalks.
The public is invited to attend.
POLISH FALCONS
The Polish Falcons, Nest 128, Duryea will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the nest. All Regular members are urged to attend.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
The Son’s of the American Legion, Squadron 585, Duryea will hold its 2nd Annual Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. Party includes Costume Contest, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, and Soda. All Children will receive a goody bag.
Party is open to all children/grandchildren of Regular, Sal’s, Ladies Aux., and Social Members up to Age 12. You must pre-register at the Post Home.
FALL RIB DINNER
The Son’s of the American Legion, Squadron 585, Duryea will hold its First Annual Fall Rib Dinner. On Saturday, Oct. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the post home. Cost is $12 and includes 1/2 Rack Bbq Ribs, Seasoned Baked Potato, Corn on the Cob, Homemade Coleslaw, Roll and Dessert. You can purchase tickets from any Sal’s officer or at the post home.
The Duryea Borough Street Department has scheduled an electronic recycling collection on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Residents are to place their electronic recyclables at the curb by 7 a.m. Any small items, such as pagers, telephones, modems, should be placed in a blue recycling container. Large items, such as televisions and computers, can just be placed at the curb without a container.
Items that are acceptable are answering machines, CD players, all computer components, radios, scanners, tape players, word processors, VCR’s, camcorders, copiers, fax machines, microwaves, cell phones, telephones, pagers, remote controls, stereos, televisions, typewriters. Non-acceptable items are console televisions, air conditioners, air purifiers, batteries, blenders, curling irons, coffee pots, de-humidifiers, drills, electric can openers, fans, humidifiers, hair dryers, hot plates, irons, lamps, lawn mowers, razors, satellite dishes, space heaters, toaster ovens, toasters, window fans, sweepers. Please note that console televisions will no longer acceptable for the electronic recycling collection.
