Eagles dealing with another linebacker injury

D.Adams3 months ago
Linebacker injuries are ubiquitous for the Eagles this season, and that continued on Sunday against the Bills when Zach Cunningham was checked out in the blue medical tent before ultimately heading into the locker room shortly after halftime.

Cunningham was leading the Eagles defense in tackles in Week 12, notching 10 in the first half against Buffalo, before being listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.

With Nakobe Dean back on IR for the second time this season, Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow were the starters. They’ve got Elliss and Patrick Johnson, and then rookie Nolan Smith — whose really more of an edge defender. Elliss has gotten snaps this season, but Johnson has been predominately relegated to special teams, and Smith has only been in on a smattering of plays.

The NFL’s trade deadline has come and gone, so if the Eagles are going to bring in some relief at the linebacker position, it’s going to have to be a free agent.
