Eagles News: NFL player poll says Philadelphia has the league’s most annoying fan base

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Anonymous NFL player poll 2023: Best player? Biggest trash talker? Most annoying fans? - The Athletic
The Eagles and Cowboys apparently aren’t just competing on the field, with both grabbing about a quarter of the votes from the 73 players who answered this question. “Just loud, rude and obnoxious,” one player said of Eagles fans, who might be nodding along in agreement at this moment. “They just swear they’re the biggest football gurus on earth,” added another. Said a player who picked the Cowboys: “They usually think they should win the Super Bowl every year.”

Jalen Hurts MVP odds: Eagles QB is the betting favorite after win over the Chiefs - BGN
It certainly wasn’t the Eagles best performance, but their Week 11 win over the Chiefs was enough to propel some future odds, including Jalen Hurts for MVP. Heading into the matchup, Hurts’ chance to win the award was +280, but moved to +250 after the win, according to DraftKings Sportsbook .

Lucky vs Good - Iggles Blitz
Those teams also have at least three losses. When they aren’t clicking on all cylinders, they become vulnerable. That’s where the Eagles are different. They find a way to win. Sometimes it is the running game. Sometimes it is Jalen Hurts and the passing game. Sometimes the defense steals the show. The Eagles don’t panic when they fall behind. They trailed Washington by double-digits in both games, but also won both. The Eagles trailed by 10 on Monday night and came back to win. They just lock in and keep grinding. It isn’t always pretty, but aside from a miserable afternoon in New Jersey, they win. People wanting an extreme point of comparison have brought up last year’s Vikings. They went 13-4, winning a lot of games in odd fashion. The Vikings got to the playoffs and got handled by Daniel Jones and the Giants. They had a negative point differential for the season. DVOA had them ranked as one of the worst teams in the league despite their record. The Eagles have a point differential of +61 this year. DVOA doesn’t love the Birds. They’re only 10th. I think the lack of blowout wins affects that. But the Eagles do have some quality wins.

Week 12 NFL Picks Against the Spread - The Ringer
Congratulations to the Bills for being the weirdest team in the NFL. After last week’s win over the Jets, they have a plus-104 point margin on the season—fourth best in the NFL and second in the AFC. The Bills are fifth in overall DVOA and third on offense. When they don’t turn the ball over, they are very good. When they do turn the ball over, they are very bad. Aren’t you glad you come to me for analysis like that? As for the Eagles, I loved Jalen Hurts’s on-field interview Monday night after their win over the Chiefs. It was clear that he had no idea what had just happened or how the Eagles won that game. The defense (and Chiefs miscues) kept them in it, and with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith on the outside, the Eagles are always one play away from scoring—even on a night when the offense was having all kinds of issues. The Eagles are 23-2 in Hurts’s last 25 regular-season starts. I think they are a very good team. I don’t think they’re a juggernaut. And the Bills are the more desperate team. I think this one comes down to the wire. The pick: Bills (+3)

Spadaro: ‘It’s really on us,’ says Eagles defense - PE.com
To a veteran like defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, the questions he hears every week at his NovaCare Complex are the same. He is inevitably asked about the Eagles’ defense and whatever opponent they are playing that week, and Cox has a consistent response. “It’s about us and what we do to execute the defense,” Cox says each week. “It’s really on us. I believe that. We know what we have in our room, so we have to work together and go out and do our jobs.” That is, in a nutshell, the mantra of the Eagles’ defense. They knew coming into the season that they would have some positions to replace given the departure of some key starters from the 2022 team via free agency. There is always a succession plan in place for the team, but in some cases, it just doesn’t follow the exact blueprint. This season has been one of those instances. In many respects, Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman has had to buffer the defensive roster on the fly. He brought in linebacker Zach Cunningham with Training Camp in full flight. Nickel cornerback Bradley Roby joined the roster a few weeks into the regular season off the streets. Safety Kevin Byard was acquired in a trade with Tennessee just before the league’s trade deadline in October.

Is living on the edge sustainable for Eagles? - NBCSP
How unusual is it to be 9-1 without winning a single game by more than 14 points? The Eagles are the first to do it in 47 years, since the 1976 Raiders – who went on to beat the Vikings in Super Bowl XI at the Rose Bowl . On the one hand, you wonder if regression to the mean will eventually catch up to the Eagles and some of these last-second wins will become last-second losses. The Eagles are 6-1 this year in one-possession games and 14-2 in their last 16 dating back to late in 2021. This is only the seventh time in franchise history they’ve won three straight games by seven or fewer points, the first time since 2003. Their six wins by a touchdown or less already ties the most for an entire season in franchise history. With seven games to go. Their 67-point differential is the 3rd-smallest in NFL history by a team with at least nine wins through 10 games. The 2006 Colts were plus-60 and those 1976 Raiders were plus-53. Both happened to win the Super Bowl. Is this sustainable?

Inside the Jets’ QB Plan for Zach Wilson and Why It Blew Up - SI
Monday night’s game was a great example of the Eagles, once more, using their advantage at the line of scrimmage to wear another good team out. It also, to me, is a good example of why sacks are an overrated stat. Philly sacked Patrick Mahomes just once. But clearly, the Eagles affected the two-time Super Bowl MVP with pressure—knocking him down nine times (Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat combined for three of those) by coming at him in waves with a deep, talented and relentless defensive front. In the end, all of it came to a head in the game’s biggest moment, with the Chiefs in third-and-10 and 1:42 left. Sweat beat left tackle Donovan Smith, flushed Mahomes out, Mahomes couldn’t get away fast enough to throw the ball away, and drew a grounding flag in the process. The penalty pushed the Chiefs back 15 yards into a fourth-and-25, which, essentially, ended the ballgame.

Eagles-Chiefs drew Monday Night Football’s largest audience in 27 years - PFT
It was the most-watched NFL game this season across all networks and the most-watched television program since the same two teams played in Super Bowl LVII in February. The Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game annually draws monster ratings, but their game against the Commanders on Thursday will have a hard time topping Monday night’s numbers.

How the Chiefs got so much pressure against the Eagles’ protection packages - Arrowhead Pride
It’s pretty clear that Spagnuolo learned some lessons from the Super Bowl, expanding them in this matchup — and he was able to put even more pressure on Hurts. The Eagles actually did a good job of picking up most pressures — but that wasn’t always the point. Hurts struggles to read second-level pressure, which frequently leads to bailing and altering his footwork. Spagnuolo knew if he could get Hurts “off his spot,” it would seriously impact his effectiveness. So once again, the Kansas City defense proved it is one of the league’s best. Spagnuolo has built a broad, innovative scheme with versatile personnel (who can adapt to any issue) at all three levels. There is no reason its success can’t be sustained through the playoffs, because Spagnuolo has proven he can find answers to any offensive problem — and gameplan against any quarterback. This defense can absolutely carry Kansas City to a Super Bowl.

How Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen got his groove back - Buffalo Rumblings
So, yes — at least for one week, Josh Allen is back. The goal will be stacking these types of performances, while finding ways to better-involve Diggs and Davis. At the end of the day, each game that Allen feels similarly confident should only benefit those around him in the weeks to come — and lead to the sort of production that Bills Mafia has grown accustomed to in recent seasons. Despite the risk involved by making an in-season change at offensive coordinator, it’s possible that it proves to be just the move necessary to re-igniting the Buffalo Bills ’ playoff hopes and more.

What we’ve learned about the Cowboys for the Commanders game - Blogging The Boys
The past few games have been a bit remarkable, with no significant injuries in the heart of the season. Key players like Joe Burrow go down every week. Dallas has suffered some major losses earlier, most notably Trevon Diggs and Leighton Vander Esch, but they have overcome those very well thanks to players like Bland and Markquese Bell. There is a concern with CeeDee Lamb showing up on the injury list this week with an ankle problem, but McCarthy has stated it is not a big one. Of course we’ve heard similar things before that have ended up with a player missing a game. With the recent contributions of Cooks and Gallup, this might be a situation where they might hold Lamb back, at least to start the game. If they can still be effective on offense with Lamb taking few if any snaps, that would be a very good sign for depth while also giving him time to get better. Luck just plays such a huge part in this. The Cowboys have had some good fortune so far, but that can change in an instant. All we can do is hope for the best. Overall, this is a game Dallas should win, most likely by a big margin. While the broadcaster would prefer a close affair for ratings, Cowboys fans would love nothing more than to see their team cruise to a dominant win. Here’s hoping that is one more thing we can be thankful for.

Washington Commanders Vs New York Giants (Game Two) - Studs and Duds - Hogs Haven
Sam Howell - Yes Sam has Moxy. Yes Sam is tough as nails. Yes Sam has some great upside... however Sam had a bad game against New York. He threw three interceptions, one a pick-6, and had another very easy one dropped. There will be better days for the youngster, but Sunday afternoon was not one of them.

NFC Hierarchy/Obituary: Week 12 edition - PhillyVoice
Howell has shown enough potential that the franchise shouldn’t feel like they have to make some drastic move for a quarterback, and that giving him a second “tryout” year in 2024 — much like the Eagles did with Jalen Hurts in 2022 — is also an acceptable solution. However, if an opportunity to solve the quarterback spot presents itself either in the draft or elsewhere, then by all means they should jump all over that. But for anyone in that building to have a strong belief at this point that they have found their “franchise quarterback” is just... .

Poll: Giants Reacts Week 12 - Should Tyrod Taylor or Tommy DeVito start? - Big Blue View
Both players had excellent games, and victories, against the Washington Commanders . And While Tyrod only scored 14 points, the Giants had their highest yards per completion (15.5) since Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. were at their height in 2015. On the other hand, DeVito took advantage of the opportunities afforded him by the defense and put the offense in position to score 24 points despite being sacked nine times. The Giants are obviously still fighting and trying to win every game in which they play. They also still have games against the Packers , Saints, and Eagles’ defenses to finish out the season. All four teams (five games) have good, dangerous defenses that can get after — and disrupt — the quarterback.

Analyzing the Colts’ surprising release of former All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard - Stampede Blue
In Leonard’s defense, he’s also been miscast as a ‘Will’ in Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley’s defensive scheme, which doesn’t allow him the ability to freelance and find the football in order to make plays like he once did at the second level of Indy’s defense. Compounding Leonard’s diminished play is that he’d been quite vocal publicly regarding his limited playing time not once, but twice. This is despite following the first incident, his head coach Shane Steichen indicating that he’d prefer to keep such conversations in-house. Prior to his release, Leonard was being subbed out on passing downs and in nickel packages in favor of E.J. Speed, as part of a platoon, who’s really shined in such a role. Leonard’s a fierce competitor, and he’s not the first once former elite athlete to fail to realize that his physical skills have diminished. Instead, believing he still has fully what it takes athletically. Realizing it far too late after the rest of us already know the difficult truth.

NFL Week 12 latest buzz, fantasy tips and upset predictions - ESPN+
What’s your top upset pick for Week 12?. Fowler: Packers (+7.5) over Lions. What a young team needs is confidence, which the Packers got with a big win over the Chargers to creep to 4-6. Green Bay has enough talent to at least challenge some of the best teams in the league. Detroit came out rusty against the Bears, and coming off a short week, it could happen again. Packers quarterback Jordan Love will need to build off his first career 300-yard passing game.
