Eagles rooting guide for Week 12 games

Week 12 of the 2023 NFL regular season is here. To accompany your viewing experience, let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles -focused rooting guide for all of the games, including an especially interesting Thanksgiving slate.

EAGLES GAMEBUFFALO BILLSThe Birds will be 10-1 with a win. According to the New York Times playoff simulator, beating the Bills will improve Philly’s chances of clinching the No. 1 seed from 73% to 81%.

GREEN BAY PACKERSDETROIT LIONSThe 8-2 Lions are a threat to the Eagles getting to the No. 1 seed. It’d be nice to see them lose a couple games. Root for the Packers.

DALLAS COWBOYSThe Cowboys typically smash inferior teams and the Commanders just lost to NYG. Hard to count on a Washington win ... but an improbable upset would be very nice! Root for the Commanders.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERSSEATTLE SEAHAWKSThe Eagles should prefer the Seahawks to win the NFC West. A Seattle win gives the Eagles more cushion when it comes to getting the No. 1 seed. Root for the Seahawks.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTSATLANTA FALCONSThe Eagles own the Saints’ second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft . The Birds will be hoping that selection is as early as it can realistically be. Root for the Falcons.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERSINDIANAPOLIS COLTSWith the Eagles owning the Saints’ second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they’ll want to see a non-New Orleans team win the NFC South. Root for the Buccaneers.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTSNEW YORK GIANTSThe Giants should be viewing this as a MUST-LOSE game. The Giants are currently fifth in the 2024 NFL Draft order while the Pats are third. Prime opportunity for New York to move ahead of New England. The Eagles will hope that the Giants blow it by winning! Root for the Giants.

CAROLINA PANTHERSTENNESSEE TITANSThe thinking here is that the Panthers (who owe their pick to Chicago) are bad enough to still be ahead of the Giants in the draft order even if they win this game. The Titans losing gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the draft order; Tennessee currently sits one spot behind NYG. Root for the Panthers.

LOS ANGELES RAMSARIZONA CARDINALSThe Cards are currently set to pick second overall. Need them to keep losing to stay ahead of the G-Men in the draft order. Root for the Rams.

CHICAGO BEARSMINNESOTA VIKINGSThe Bears’ own first-round pick is one spot ahead of the Giants at fourth overall. Need da Bears to keep losing. Root for the Vikings.

WHAT’S LEFTMIAMI DOLPHINSNEW YORK JETSThe NFL’s first Black Friday game. The Dolphins winning serves to improve Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Dolphins.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFSLAS VEGAS RAIDERSThe Chiefs winning serves to improve Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Chiefs.

BALTIMORE RAVENSLOS ANGELES CHARGERSMaybe there’s a chance the Chargers could finish ahead of the Commanders in the draft order? Root for the Ravens.

CINCINNATI BENGALSPITTSBURGH STEELERSThe Bengals might be able to move ahead of the Commanders in the draft order if they lose out with Joe Burrow injured? Probably not but you can still root for it. Root for the Steelers.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARSHOUSTON TEXANSWith all due respect to DeMeco Ryans, let’s go Doug Pederson. Root for the Jaguars.

CLEVELAND BROWNSDENVER BRONCOSDoesn’t matter but it’s not hard to root against Sean Payton.
