Eagles star rips Josh Allen’s jersey: ‘How do you not see that?’

V.Rodriguez3 months ago
Eagles defensive end Haason Reddick ripped Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s jersey as he pulled him to the ground in the second quarter on Sunday. On second-and-3, Allen threw it away with nobody around and drew an intentional grounding call at Philadelphia’s three-yard-line.

This penalty knocked Buffalo back to Philadelphia’s 16. On the next play, Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter blocked a 34-yard field goal attempt. Reddick helped prevent a touchdown, but the referees missed an obvious call.

On the broadcast replay, it showed Reddick grabbing Allen’s neck area — a textbook horse collar penalty. This caused his jersey to rip.

CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz asked a rhetorical question: “How do you not see that?” Nantz believes it was a “blatant” missed call. The decision to not call a penalty could have significant ramifications.

If Reddick was called for a horse collar, the penalties would have been offsetting. It would have given Buffalo another chance to score a touchdown on second-and-goal.

The Eagles have not sacked Allen through three quarters. Trailing 24-14, Reddick needs to step up and get a few clean sacks on Allen to start a comeback. Without a consistent pass rush, the Eagles may struggle winning this game.
