Eagles defensive end Haason Reddick ripped Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s jersey as he pulled him to the ground in the second quarter on Sunday. On second-and-3, Allen threw it away with nobody around and drew an intentional grounding call at Philadelphia’s three-yard-line. This penalty knocked Buffalo back to Philadelphia’s 16. On the next play, Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter blocked a 34-yard field goal attempt. This caused his jersey to rip.You can watch the play here. CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz asked a rhetorical question: “How do you not see that?” Nantz believes it was a “blatant” missed call. The decision to not call a penalty could have significant ramifications. If Reddick was called for a horse collar, the penalties would have been offsetting. It would have given Buffalo another chance to score a touchdown on second-and-goal. If they scored, Buffalo might be up 24-14 instead of 17-14 in the third quarter.
