When Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spiked the ball with two seconds left in the second half, it appeared like any other ordinary play. The reality is that the NFL saw Eagles ’ Jalen Carter pull off one of the craziest interceptions ever. With Philadelphia trailing 14-7, Mahomes completed a six-play, 21-yard drive starting from the Eagles’ 46-yard line with 44 seconds on the clock. With the timer at two seconds, the two-time MVP quarterback spiked the ball seemingly into the hands of Carter, who dove between the legs of Chiefs center Creed Humphrey as he snapped the ball to Mahomes.BUY EAGLES TICKETS:, VIVID SEATS, A replay shows how close Carter came to pulling off an interception - mere centimeters came between him and the ball, which bounced off the ground between his outstretched hands. Where would somebody get such a crazy idea? “I saw it on the internet, I’ve seen it on YouTube, some high school kid tried, and he actually caught the ball,” Carter told reporters . “I thought, ‘That’s a good idea,’ I knew they would spike it, so I tried to go for it.” Despite not pulling off the miraculous play - Kansas City scored a field goal on the next play to take a 17-7 lead Carter will get to enjoy his Thanksgiving, as he and his defense kept the Chiefs scoreless in the second half. This gave the Eagles a chance to come back, which they did, scoring 14 unanswered points to defeat Kansas City 21-17 . Last week, at the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia, located in the Germantown section of the city, Carter talked about why he loves Thanksgiving so much. “As a kid, I always wanted to eat,” Carter said. “I knew that Thanksgiving was when the most food would come out. That’s why I love Thanksgiving.”
