Eagles-Seahawks Week 15 game flexed to Monday Night Football

K.Hernandez3 months ago
The Philadelphia Eagles ’ Week 15 road game against the Seattle Seahawks is no longer taking place at 4:25 PM Eastern on Sunday, December 17.

In the first-ever Monday Night Football flex, the NFL officially announced the Eagles will now face the Seahawks at 8:15 PM Eastern on Monday, December 18.

The MNF game was originally supposed to feature the New England Patriots hosting the Kansas City Chiefs . Obviously not as much juice for that mismatch of a matchup.

This news sure does not seem convenient for people with travel plans to see the Eagles play in person. Nor those who do not enjoy staying up late for late games.

It is good news in terms of the Eagles being more watchable on national television. They’ve got a lot of visibility coming up:

The first-ever Monday Night Football flex: the NFL is flexing Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce off of Monday Night Football in Week 15, replacing the Dec. 18 Chiefs at Patriots game with Eagles at Seahawks.

— Adam Schefter November 30, 2023 Another factor in the pro column is that it gives the Eagles more time to deal with flying back from Dallas in Week 14 and flying back out west to Seattle in Week 15.

But another factor in the con column is that it puts the Eagles at a rest disadvantage against the New York Giants in Week 16. The Giants will be going from Sunday to Monday while the Eagles will be going from Monday to Monday. The Birds should still be expected to win that game on Christmas ... but it’s a factor working against them.

Big picture, it’s typically preferable to be getting flexed into primetime as opposed to getting moved out. Just something that comes with the territory of being a very good team.

How do you feel about the NFL flexing the Eagles-Seahawks game?
