Early morning shooting in Birmingham leaves 1 dead

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.

Just after 12:30 a.m., East Precinct officers received a report of a person shot in the 1000 block of Huffman Road. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male gunshot victim unresponsive on the ground.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported the victim to UAB Hospital.

The victim died from his injuries around 3 p.m.
