Earth Science Week Starts With Family Day Focused On New Mexico’s Geology Oct. 12 At NMMNHS In Albuquerque

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) is the place to be throughout Earth Science Week, starting with a family day focused on New Mexico's geology, Oct. 12 at 1801 Mountain Road NW in Albuquerque.

Head to the museum for a family day featuring demos and displays from many different Earth Science topics. Talk with Earth scientists, and learn about New Mexico's minerals, volcanoes, earthquakes, water, and dinosaurs.

Visitors will have a chance to discover the fossils of New Mexico and explore the geology of our neighbors in space: the Moon, Mars and Venus. Hands-on activities for all ages will be available.

This event kicks off the Museum's celebration of Earth Science Week, a global movement towards understanding and cherishing our planet. This event is free with Museum admission.

Special guests with info and demos include geologists from the New Mexico Bureau of Geology, the Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory, University of New Mexico Institute of Meteoritics, and others. And in celebration of International Archaeology Day, another part of Earth Science Week, there will be special guests from UNM's Maxwell Museum.
