GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU's football team took on Florida Atlantic Thursday night at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

It's the annual Night of the Boneyard Game and it was a "Paint It Black" game. The Pirate faithful gathered to tailgate as is customary prior to the games. The team still has the goal of qualifying for a bowl game.

"This is what we do on weekends, so who cares that it's a Thursday? We are going to be here supporting our guys," ECU fan Koryn Dilday said. "It's Pirate Nation and there is an atmosphere about it. Regardless of how many people are here or not, our people are here. We are gonna support our guys and that's what we are here for."

Many fans said they are still hopeful for the rest of the season. "I feel real good about tonight, they are going to become bowl eligible," ECU fan Wyndel Kinion said. "The young men looked relaxed. They look like they really enjoy playing football now and they look relaxed."
