Edmond residents vote against Edmond GO Bond
EDMOND, Okla. ( KFOR ) — Edmond residents voted against the Edmond GO Bond, with all three proposals receiving a majority of No votes. Voters have voted against all proposals on the Edmond GO Bond ballot.
What is the Edmond GO Bond?
The Edmond General Obligation (GO) Bond program funds improvements for highest priority streets, parks and fire safety, according to the City of Edmond.
Under a 10-year obligation for $231 million, property taxes will increase by 14.3%. The city estimates for the average Edmond household would be — $40 a month or $450 a year per household.
The $231 million GO bond will be used towards 22 projects that revolve around the three proposals towards streets, parks and public safety.
Streets are the highest priority with the GO Bond program, with 15 projects or 65% of the total program for $151 million. Parks will have 6 projects or 30% of the total program for $70 million and Fire will have 1 project or 5% of the total program for $10 million.
The $10 million for Fire will be used to replace Fire Station Number 3 on Danforth and Kelly and build a new station near Kelly Avenue and Hawthorne Lane.

This would be the first general obligation bond program Edmond has had since 1980.
What happens if not all proposals are voted for?
There are three proposals up for vote on Election Day for the Edmond GO Bond, the proposals are broken down into the three categories — Streets, parks and fire safety.
According to the City of Edmond, if only one or two of the questions are voted for then the target $15 mill levy will not change, however, the duration of the tax would be cut shorter depending on the total dollar amount for the projects that are voted for by Edmond residents.
Voters have voted against all proposals on the Edmond GO Bond ballot.
