Edward O. Ivers, 93 - Austin Daily Herald
Edward Olaf Ivers, age 93, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at South Grove Lodge in Austin, Minnesota. Edward was born on October 28, 1931, in Cresco, Iowa to Sever and Lena (Wilken) Ivers. In 1949, he graduated from Harmony High School and went on to continue his education at Dunwoody and the University of Minnesota. In January of 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. In January of 1955, he was honorably discharged, at the rank of Corporal. On June 27,1959, he married the love of his life, Harriet Olson in Buffalo, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with four sons. Edward moved to Austin and began working in 1961 as a meat inspector for the USDA and retired in 1990. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and farming his land. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the American Legion for over 50 years.
Edward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Harriet Ivers of Austin; four sons, Steven (Rosalie) Ivers of Austin, Minnesota, David (Joan) Ivers of Pemberton, Minnesota, Daniel Ivers of Greenfield, Indiana, James (Elizabeth) Ivers of Thompson, North Dakota; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Michael, Samantha, Tessa, Colton, Alanna, and Gretchen; great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Ivers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sever and Lena Ivers; and brother Harold Ivers.
Memorial services are at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Saetersdal Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Harmony, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
