Recovery Alliance of El Paso will host its third annual Big Texas Rally for Recovery on Saturday, celebrating the Borderland's community of folks who have overcome, and continue to overcome, substance use disorders every day.

The Big Texas Rally for Recovery will take place at Memorial Park from noon to 5 p.m., and feature food, live music, games, raffles, kids activities and a host of recovery support services.

This year's theme is Staying Alive.

While the Big Texas Rally for Recovery celebrates those who continually overcome addiction, it's open to the whole community.

"We have games, we have food, we have a jumping balloon, and it's for all walks of life," said Recovery Alliance Operations Supervisor Mario Mendoza.

"We are inviting the recovery community and their loved ones," added Recovery Alliance Data Coordinator and event Co-Chair, Rosa Jennings.

Mendoza said last year's event brought in some 300 people.

Meanwhile, Recovery Alliance of El Paso also launched a new program called Mujer Sin Limites at its headquarters at 2520 Silver Ave.

According to Mendoza, the program is for expecting mothers who struggled with substance use either during or before pregnancy.

It offers a range of support including residential services, parenting classes, transportation to and from OBGYN appointments, peer support, recovery planning and even child care.

Likewise, moms can enroll in a 12-step process, whether it be AA, NA or church-based recovery.
