El Paso landmarks to glow green for Veterans Day week in show of support
El Paso landmarks will be green for a week in honor of Veterans Day.
From Monday to Nov. 11, El Paso County buildings will shine with green light as part of "Operation Green Light for Veterans," a country-wide initiative that brings together counties in support of military families.
Besides lighting up buildings and landmarks, County officials would like to see borderland residents, businesses and organizations participate even if it is just by simply changing one lightbulb to green inside or outside their homes or place of business. According to the County just by shining one green light, you can let veterans know that they are "seen, appreciated and supported" and hopefully start a conversation regarding the needs of veterans and the resources available for them at the county, state and federal levels.
If you participate, the County would also like to see the hashtag #OperationGreenLight trending on social media, so the conversation can continue online.

The County added that another way you can support veterans is by buying from veteran-owned businesses which you can find a list of veteran-sellers on this .
This is the third year the initiative is being implemented. In 2023, more than 300 counties from all over the country reportedly participated in Operation Green Light.
The initiative is spearheaded by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO).
Veterans Day is a federally recognized holiday that is observed annually on Nov. 11.
