Preparations were underway Wednesday afternoon for one of El Paso's biggest Thanksgiving traditions.

Thousands are expected to line the streets of central El Paso from the 87th annual Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving day.

The parade starts Thursday at 10 a.m. and it will run from Ochoa to Copia.

The theme of 2023's Thanksgiving parade is Rock n' Roll.

KFOX14/CBS4 spoke with organizers of the parade who said they have approximately 15 large floats this year.

Eddie Morelos from the Sun Bowl Association said, "You'll hear various music throughout the parade from the floats, but then you'll hear different things from the bands that are in the parade."

RECOMMENDED:

The Grand Marshall for 2023's parade will be Tuff Hedeman a four-time world champion and pro rodeo hall of fame bull rider.

If you and your family plan to attend the holiday parade, please plan ahead as officials anticipate heavy traffic around the area.

KFOX14/CBS4 also spoke with Allen from the non-profit Southwest Baseball, who was there working on a float.

"It's gotten bigger, it's gotten better," Allen said. "Bigger and better floats."

Allen was there working on a float that combined the musical theme with baseball iconography.

Of the float, Allen said, "My kids helped me build it." Recalling, "I helped build when I was a kid, so it's like a family tradition."
