Election 2024: Dawn Keefer takes state Senate seat

State Rep. Dawn Keefer will be a state senator next year after taking the most votes in Cumberland and York counties for the 31st Senatorial District race Tuesday.

With unofficial tallies from both counties, Keefer, a Republican from York County, received 19,945 votes in Cumberland County and 60,098 votes in York County. She defeated Cumberland County resident Mark Temons, who received 16,661 votes in Cumberland County and 34,496 votes in York County.

The 31st Senatorial District covers Upper and Lower Allen townships, as well as the boroughs of Mechanicsburg, Shiremanstown, Lemoyne and New Cumberland in Cumberland County. The district also includes northern York County, including the City of York.
