Election Day Forecast: What to expect heading to the polls?
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – If you plan to vote on Tuesday, Storm Team 2 predicts a warm and rainy start to election morning.
Meteorologist Josh Marthers says to prepare for rain if you're heading to the polls in the morning but it should be mostly dry if you're going later in the afternoon.
Morning temperatures are in the high 60s and low 70s, which Marthers says is above average for this time of year.
"Our normal low for this time of year should be in the upper 40s – low 50s. A typical election day morning, we would be between 47 and 53. Think about where we are right now – at 68 and 72. That's like Summer! It is quite warm," said Marthers.
Later in the afternoon, temperatures will be in the near 80s.
The highest chance of rain occurs between 9 a.m. and noon. After that, the probability of rain decreases to around 20% from noon to 3 p.m. and holds through the evening hours.
