Election Day races not hampered by rain in East Texas

(KLTV) - Voters across the nation are casting their ballots for the candidates of their choice among a number of national, state and local elections. Certainly the most talked-about race is the presidential race between Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. A close second for Texans may be the contest for the U.S. Senate between current Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Colin Allred. In Gregg County, Elections Administrator Jennifer Briggs said they've had a busy day there, as well, and she gives us a look at what to expect as Election night progresses. "Anything that is being done at the polling place, and they were able to check it on the poll and cast your regular ballot, all of that will be counted tonight pretty quickly. The only thing that slows us down is when we have omissions. These are people that have been registered to vote in time, we were not made aware of it by the state until after the deadline, so they didn't get in the poll books. So, we have to manually enter those in, or any provisional ballots. Things like that," Briggs said.
