Electronica trio Rüfüs Du Sol announce 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour dates... but not all fans are happy

Hot on the heels of their latest album, Sydney-based electronica trio Rüfüs Du Sol have announced a 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour.

The You Were Right hitmakers will be embarking on a six-date tour, kicking off in Perth on November 7 next year.

The acclaimed band will then move on to Adelaide , Melbourne , Sydney and Brisbane , before concluding in Auckland on November 29.

Sharing the news to Instagram on Wednesday, the band also revealed they will be making an announcement about UK and European dates on Thursday.

The dance group - made up of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt - also teased that a North American reveal will happen 'soon'.

The news was met with much rejoicing from their 1.3million Instagram followers, however some fans were upset that they have to wait so long to see the trio live.

One fan, surmising that the Down Under run would come at the end of the band's 2025 world tour, said the choice not to kick off in Australia was 'confusing'.

'Not gonna lie I'm just confused why they wouldn't just kick off the tour in Aus since they were already home,' they wrote.

'Why are they making everyone wait till over a year from now to see them? I'm not even Australian but I just feel bad.'

'I can't wait that long,' another wrote while a third chimed in with: 'An entire year? My Lord.'

Another fan, referencing the band's Sydney Harbour at Sunset show last week, was also disappointed with the long wait time.

'Last tour tickets were available a year out, too. They're playing November which is warm weather,' they wrote.

'But yes, it sucks they're literally here and we have to wait a year for a proper your. They did one p**sy show in Sydney last minute and the rest of us miss out.'

During their upcoming tour, the band will be supported by UK singer songwriter SG Lewis.

Tickets for the Australian and New Zealand shows will be available starting with an artist presale on October 22 before general onsale kicks off on October 24.

Rüfüs Du Sol will also be headlining all three legs of the South American iteration of Lollapalooza in Argentina in March 2025.

Following on from the success of their fourth studio album Surrender, which hit number one on the ARIA album chart, Rüfüs Du Sol released their anticipated follow-up Inhale/Exhale last week.

'This record is very special to us. We're incredibly proud of it and of what it represents for us as a group,' the Grammy Award winning outfit said of the album.

'We wrote a lot of music together for this project, and decided early on that we were trying to create something more expansive than we have previously shared.'

'It's crazy to think we've been collaborating on this project together for almost fifteen years, to know that we're five albums deep now and we're as excited about making music together now as when we started.

Amid their new release, Rüfüs Du Sol delighted Australians by putting on an exclusive outdoor performance at Sydney Harbour last week.

Huge crowds gathered at Mrs Macquaries Point to listen to the dance music group perform at the Royal Botanic Gardens during the ticketed event.

While tickets were in high-demand for the one-off gig, some lucky fans were able to watch the performance from their luxury boats moored in the Sydney Harbour.

The band was known simply as Rüfüs from their inception, before changing their name to Rüfüs Du Sol in the United States – to avoid confusion with existing funk band Rufus.

Formed in 2010, the electronic music trio shot to fame in 2013 when their debut album Atlas reached number one in Australia.

They later scored an Aria award in 2015 for best dance release for their single You Were Right.

In 2022, the trio took home a prestigious Grammy Award for best dance/electronic Recording for their tune Alive.
