ESPN's Fraschilla speaking at Wednesday's Tipoff Luncheon
A frequent visitor to Waco while covering Big 12 men's basketball games, ESPN's Fran Fraschilla will be back in town Wednesday as the featured speaker at the Greater Waco Tipoff Luncheon.
The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Baylor's Hurd Welcome Center.
Fraschilla joined ESPN as a basketball analyst in 2003. He coached college basketball for 23 years prior to that, with head coaching stints at Manhattan, St. John's and New Mexico. He totaled a 176-99 record as a head coach, with eight postseason trips in nine years.
In recent years, he's become synonymous with ESPN's Big 12 basketball coverage, as the lead analyst for the conference's "Big Monday" broadcasts. This marks Fraschilla's second time to serve as Tipoff Luncheon speaker, following a 2016 appearance.
Baylor basketball coaches Scott Drew and Nicki Collen will preview their teams, along with McLennan Community College's Kevin Gill and Candice Thomas.
The Chamber will also present the Frank Fallon Award to someone who has made a significant impact on basketball in McLennan County. Recent winners have included Connally boys basketball coach Quinton Snell (2023), former Baylor women's basketball star Sophia Young-Malcolm (2022) and former Baylor/MCC women's coach Bill Brock (2021).
