Event to help people eliminate warrants coming to Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The City of Mobile is partnering with a nonprofit that aims to eliminate the fear of arrest while helping people eliminate their warrants through an upcoming event.

According to a news release, the nonprofit Growing Real Alternatives is teaming up with the City of Mobile Legal Department and the Mobile Municipal Court to put on a warrant clinic.

This is the second warrant clinic, the release states. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2024, at the Springhill Recreation Center.

City officials said the warrant clinic will have a family-friendly atmosphere in an effort to make the space unintimidating. There will be entertainment, childcare, food, and other community resources.

"Many people fear arrest and don't go to court when they have warrants," the nonprofit's website said. "We partner with local community organizations and the court to hold a one-day court event at a community location to eliminate that fear of arrest and increase community participation."
