Examining the roster ties between Patriots, Jaguars ahead of Week 7

Familiar faces will meet again when the New England Patriots meet the Jacksonville Jaguars again.

Between the active rosters, practice squads and reserve lists of the London visitors, six players have spent time with both 1-5 teams during the NFL tenures.

Here's a glance through those past and present names ahead of Sunday's 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff at Wembley Stadium.

Mac Jones, quarterback — After 42 starts under center, the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft saw his tenure in Foxborough end before the new league year began. Once a Pro Bowl alternate and team captain with the Patriots, Jones completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 8,918 yards with 46 touchdowns and 36 interceptions in all. He was benched for backup quarterback Bailey Zappe last December following the trip to Frankfurt, Germany. And a selection in the sixth round at No. 193 overall would be the trade compensation by March. Jones has since made two relief appearances for the Jaguars. Those saw the 26-year-old Alabama alum go 6-of-9 passing for 28 yards with a pair of sacks and a lost fumble. The return became former Tennessee and Michigan quarterback Joe Milton III in the 2024 class.

NEW ENGLANDJaMycal Hasty, running back — The Patriots were awarded Hasty off waivers from the Jaguars last November. The 28-year-old back would go on to outlast the 53-man roster deadline as the third member of the depth chart. He has appeared in every game since then, logging 43 yards from scrimmage to go with 214 yards on kickoff returns. Entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020, the Baylor product spent two campaigns between the practice squad, active roster and injured reserve of the San Francisco 49ers before heading to the AFC South as a waiver claim. He arrived in Foxborough as a veteran of 39 games, 478 snaps on offense and 347 snaps on special teams and five touchdowns.

Daniel Ekuale, defensive tackle — New England originally signed Ekuale to the practice squad at its formation in 2021. A team-high eight elevations were earned from there for defensive lineman out of Washington State. His Patriots run has since spanned 30 games, including six starts, to go with 42 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble. Ekuale's NFL career began as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The 30-year-old spent parts of two campaigns with the Cleveland Browns before finishing 2020 as a Jaguar. He saw action in nine games, starting five, with the latter organization on the way to notching his first career sack.

Joe Giles-Harris, linebacker — Signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie in 2019, Giles-Harris now stands 28 tackles and one sack into his NFL journey. Through 18 appearances, including three starts, he has accrued 217 snaps on defense and 333 snaps on special teams. The 27-year-old Duke product headed to the Buffalo Bills in 2021 and then to another quarter of the AFC East in 2023. Giles-Harris spent all of last season on the practice squad of the Patriots. He then served as a standard elevation from the practice squad in September, seeing nine snaps at linebacker as well as 67 percent of the workload in the kicking game before reverting.

Joey Slye, kicker — The 28-year-old Slye has been a member of seven different clubs since going undrafted in 2018. He was with Jacksonville from March until the end of April after the arrival of rookie sixth-round draft choice Cam Little. Agreeing to terms in Foxborough as the calendar turned to May, the veteran kicker outlasted sophomore Chad Ryland and has since gone 9-of-11 on field goals and 8-of-8 on extra points for the Patriots. While setting the franchise record from 63 yards out, the Virginia Tech alum has also added a 54-yarder through the uprights and doubled as the kickoff specialist.
