Expert: 'I think we're starting to see that inflation start to break' as prices drop in time for Black Friday
The year has made a difference as prices are coming down for hot holiday gifts like cell phones and toys just in time for the holiday season.
Executive Vice President of the National Taxpayers Union Brandon Arnold joined The National Desk’s Angela Brown to discuss Black Friday’s outlook.
“We are starting to see a positive trend. Inflation has come down across the board but still problematic. But as you mentioned in certain product categories, including a lot of categories that people are going to be buying gifts in, we have seen actually some prices fall that's really good news for consumers because we need this relief,” he said. “It's been two years plus of insane levels of inflation. So I think we're starting to see that inflation start to break.
Black Friday is right around the corner and many Americans are focused on the deals that come with the holiday. Toys are down 3.7%, computers are down 5.7%, TVs are down 9.4%, and so much more.
“Fingers crossed, we have a really good Black Friday.” Arnold said. “A really good holiday shopping season and the consumer confidence that we need to have a strong economy because consumer spending makes up more than two thirds of our overall economic activity.”
