Explore the New Manufacturing visits Mercer County

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – Mercer County students had the opportunity to learn careers hands on on Friday, September 20, 2024. Explore the New Manufacturing joined with three local manufactures to bring activities to the students.

Seventh and eighth graders from Bluefield, Glenwood, Montcalm, PikeView, and Princeton Middle School, participated at the Mercer County Technical Education Center. Participating manufacturers were Conn-Weld Industries, LLC, Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc., and Timken Power Systems/Smith Services.

"It's really important for kids to learn about what career opportunities are available in their local areas. And, you know, the best way to do that is just to get a glimpse and, you know, do a hands on activities," said Executive Director, Monica Cross.

Students went from room to room to learn different crafts and show off their creations. This is the third year that Explore the New Manufacturing has visited Mercer County.
