Nanticoke Area High School standout Rich Olshefski will continue his academic
and athletic careers at King’s College.
The running back was a three-year letter winner for the Trojans and helped
Nanticoke to a 7-4 record and a District 2 playoff berth as a senior. He
finished fifth in rushing in Division II of the Wyoming Valley Conference with
yards, with nine touchdowns, and was a two-time WVC all-star choice. He also
has been selected to play in the annual UNICO All-Star Game this summer.
The Notre Dame Clubs of Hanover Township and Scranton will host a Universal
Notre Dame Nite at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Westmoreland Club in
Wilkes-Barre. The event is hosted by Frank Handley, president of the Hanover
Township club; and William Lynn, president of the Scranton club.
The PIAA Class A semifinal baseball game between Riverside and Southern
Columbia was postponed on Monday and is rescheduled for today at 4 p.m. at
Wilkes University’s Artillery Park across from Kirby Park.
Brian Boulac, assistant athletic director at Notre Dame, will be the guest
speaker. He was a tight end for the Fighting Irish from 1960-62 and is in his
