The NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons head to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Broncos in one of the three late-afternoon matchups on the Week 11 slate. The Broncos are slight home favorites despite dropping their last two games.

  • Atlanta (6-4) enjoys a two-game lead in its division but is ruing a missed opportunity after last week's disappointing 20-17 road loss to the New Orleans Saints. Normally a reliable kicker, Younghoe Koo missed three field goals, and Kirk Cousins threw a costly interception in a game in which the Falcons nearly doubled up the Saints in first downs (25 vs. 14) while outgaining them by more than 100 yards (468 to 365).

Denver (5-5) is coming off an even more crushing road loss. The Broncos were in position to hand the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs their first loss until Wil Lutz's 35-yard field goal attempt was blocked. Denver now has to regroup or risks falling even further behind in the AFC wild-card chase.

The Broncos defense is ranked in the top 10 in all four major defensive categories, just held the Chiefs to 300 yards and a season-low 16 points, and is the main reason this team is even in the playoff conversation. Atlanta is a top-five offense overall and through the air, but the key will be running the ball with enough success so Denver's pass rush (second in the NFL with 35 sacks) can't tee off on Cousins. Running back Bijan Robinson has posted five straight games with 100-plus yards from scrimmage, and that trend needs to continue this week.

Denver also needs to run the ball, and the Falcons have allowed at least 100 rushing yards in all but one game this season. So, this could be the right matchup where the Broncos' defense doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting. Denver is also looking for a sweep of the NFC South teams, having won the first three matchups by an average of nearly 19 points per game.
