Fall festivals and events in Central Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — It's October, which means people can look forward to a variety of fall-themed community events.
Here are some upcoming festivals and events that Birmingham residents can keep an eye out for:
Hoots and Howls — Birmingham Zoo
This Halloween-themed Birmingham Zoo festival lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. It includes a hay maze, a scavenger hunt, animal shows and more. Activities are included with zoo admission.
Pumpkin Festival Grace House — Homewood Central Park
This festival in Homewood takes place on Oct. 12. Sponsored by Grace House Ministries, it will include a pumpkin patch, face painting and more.
Trot-O-Ween — Therapeutic Riding of Tuscaloosa
This event takes place on Oct. 13. It includes a petting zoo, face painting, games, candy and more. Admission costs $5 for adults, and it is free for children.
Harvest Festival — Empowerment World Church
On Oct. 14, this Alabaster-based fall festival will feature food, music, games and more for the whole family.
ArtPlay Halloween Family Day — UAB's ArtPlay
Taking place on Oct. 19, this free event will have treats, music, dancing and visual art activities for the whole family.
Fall with Y'all Market — Get Sunmed Northport
On Oct. 25, this night market in Northport will give attendees the chance to shop with local vendors. It will also include a food truck, live music, kids' games and more.
Art Stalk — Main Street Montevallo
On Oct. 26, this Halloween-themed art walk will stretch across Montevallo's Main Street. Attendees can expect to find unique goods from different local vendors.
Fall Festival — Sharon Heights Baptist Church
This event takes place on Oct. 30. This family-friendly Fall Festival in Brookside, Ala. will feature live music, games, food and more.
Vulcan's Spooktacular — Vulcan
This event takes place on Oct. 31. It offers trick-or-treating opportunities, photo opportunities around the park, music, face painting and refreshments. The main event is family friendly, but this year, it will feature an adult-only Halloween party with pumpkin carving and a costume contest.
Fall Craft Fair — Chelsea Community Center
On Nov. 2, local vendors will offer their unique goods at this annual craft fair in Chelsea, Ala.
