BROWN COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) -The family of a 23-year-old woman who died following a shooting in Brown County is seeking answers after the person taken into custody has been released.

Bradee Brooks, Sara Tucker's brother, says he is in disbelief.

"Is this real life? You know, I don't know. I'd never thought I would lose my sister like that," Brooks said.

Brooks explains that he and his sister were very close.

"She was a protector. She really cared about her people. If there was an issue, she was definitely going to solve it for you. I miss that about her. I kind of lost my protector in a way," Brooks said.

Tucker, who turned 23 on Nov. 1, was found shot when the sheriff says Aberdeen police responded to a shooting at an apartment on Millston Road around 11:15 a.m. Monday.

She was transported from the apartment Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville, Kentucky where she later died, according to Brown County Sheriff Gordon Ellis.

Tucker's boyfriend and a 9mm handgun were also found at the apartment where the 23-year-old woman was found shot, the sheriff added.

Deputies with the Brown County Sheriff's Office say they took a person into custody; however, that person was released without charges. That does not mean that charges cannot still be filed.

Tucker leaves behind one son, Leon.

"She was being a mom to her baby, being the best mom she could," Brooks said.

Without his sister, Brooks says he is trying to figure out how to cope.

"I never thought this would happen. I never thought any of this would happen," Brooks said.
