Fulton County, Ga. District Attorney Fani Willis, known for her prosecution of former President Donald Trump, will win reelection as the top prosecutor in Georgia's most populous county, the Associated Press projects.

Willis rose to fame in 2021 when she launched an investigation into Trump and his allies over efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Her office indicted Trump and18 other defendants in 2023, preceding a year of legal challenges against the indictments over a potential conflict of interest involving Willis and prosecutorNathan Wade.

Former Trump administration internCourtney Kramer, an Atlanta-area attorney, unsuccessfully challenged Willis for her position. Kramer describes herself on her campaign website as specializing in "political and election law," adding that she is "an active advocate for election integrity."

The victory for Willis comes on the heels of a turbulent day for her constituents. Fulton County polling centers were targeted with bomb threats Tuesday, forcing official to delay voting. Georgia Secretary of State BradRaffensperger said the threats originated in Russia.

"They're up to mischief, it seems," Raffensperger said. "They don't want us to have a smooth, fair and accurate election."

Neighboring DeKalb County was the target of additional bomb threats later in the day. Five DeKalb County voting centers had to be swept by police after the threats were made.
