Farmington defense shines in first two rounds of playoffs as offense battles injuries

FARMINGTON, Illinois (WMBD) – Farmington High football is on the cusp of their first ever birth in the IHSA state semifinals. They just need a win this Saturday against Dwight.

The Farmers have had a high-powered offense all year, but they've been underrated on the other side of the ball.

The offense has suffered a few injuries in the postseason, and their defense has stepped up to fill the hole.

Creating turnovers, halting drives, and pushing the Farmers to back-to-back wins in low-scoring battles to start the playoffs.

And a couple of guys go out with injuries and we've had to rely on our defense. And they've done a great job of stepping up like our DBS have done an excellent job creating turnovers.

Lane Wheelwright, Farmington QB

Everybody's got to do their job on defense and makesure we do what we do in practice in the game. This is our last year, so we've got to make the best of it

Carter Lambin, Farmington LB, TE
