MILWAUKEE (WISN) – A 20-year-old father admitted to throwing his infant son against a wall because a video game irritated him, according to authorities. Prosecutors released disturbing new details about the alleged case of child abuse that unfolded inside a Milwaukee apartment. Police say Jalin White was playing the video game NBA 2K and was "down 2 points in the fourth quarter of the game." He "became frustrated" and allegedly threw his 8-month-old son against the wall. White was in court on Saturday. Prosecutors charged him with physical abuse of a child and neglecting a child causing great bodily harm. "The defendant has confessed to this incident," Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Madeline Witte said. "The defendant is also the only person with the ability and the opportunity to inflict this harm on the victim." The criminal complaint states White told detectives, "I heard the wall. It was hard on his head. It was hard. It was a loud, hard wall." Prosecutors say the baby now has a traumatic brain injury and "is not expected to survive." If the child does die, prosecutors will upgrade the charges to homicide. "This is likely going to become a homicide," Witte said. "This is a severe level of violence for an innocent infant child, which had multiple injuries." Other injuries were discovered by hospital staff. They included a clavicle fracture and six rib fractures, all in different stages of healing. "This appears not to be the first abuse of conduct with this child based on the fact that there are multiple stages of healing of broken ribs," the court commissioner said. White was seen shaking his head as the court commissioner spoke. She ordered White to be held on a $100,000 cash bail. If convicted, White could face up to 62 years in prison, but that total could increase if the baby does not survive.
