BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Livingston Parish student was arrested and charged with terrorizing after the sheriff's office got a tip from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Sept. 20.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office said the FBI tip was about a post on social media platform Snapchat.

"This post had a photo attached of a male juvenile holding a weapon standing in front of a door. The caption on the photo stated potential harm to Live Oak High School," said Sheriff Jason Ard.

Deputies said an address was tracked down to Denham Springs. A 13-year-old boy was arrested and booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of terrorizing.

The sheriff's office said the boy was not the person in the photo. The student reportedly shared the image obtained.

Livingston Parish deputies said the same posts are being seen across the country. The sheriff's office suggests that people report those types of posts to local law enforcement.

"Let it be known that these posts/comments are taken very seriously," said Ard. "We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to our children's safety. We are watching. Our local law enforcement partners are watching – including the FBI. Parents, you really need to talk to your children about what they are posting. "
