FC Barcelona Confirms Another First Team Star Injury And Lengthy Recovery Timeframe
FC Barcelona confirmed an injury to another first team star through a short statement shared on social media, as well as the player's expected recovery time frame.
"Ansu Fati suffered a right hamstring injury at training on Wednesday morning," the statement began.
"He will be out for approximately four weeks," it added.
As implied by Fati training with his club this week, he isn't one of Barca's senior players currently on international duty with Spain for UEFA Nations League matches against Denmark and Switzerland.
Once La Roja's youngest ever goalscorer and the youngest player to start in a match in the mentioned European international competition, Fati has fallen out of the picture with his country after representing it at the 2022 World Cup where Spain was knocked out by surprise semi-finalists Morocco in the last 16.
This meant that Fati played no part in Spain's record fourth Euros title win in the summer, though his Barca colleagues Lamine Yamal and Pedri had starring roles amid Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez making Luis de la Fuente's 26-man squad.
Fati spent 2023/2024 on loan at Brighton where he failed to impress, but he was given a chance to prove himself under new Barca manager Hansi Flick after catching his eye in preseason training.
A foot injury was a setback to Fati, who saw a potential left wing spot taken by Raphinha because of the Brazilian being moved from the right thanks to Lamine's emergence.
Fati has had minutes under his German boss, but clearly lacks the sharpness of the teenager that set the world on fire at the turn of the decade, whose trajectory was halted by a series of serious injuries.
