(WIVT/WBGH) – There's a movie premiere this weekend, showing a documentary about Americans finding common ground, amidst all of the division.

The film is called "Something in the Water" and was produced and director by Joseph Stillman and Jeri Wachter from Gilbertsville, New York.

They started filming after the 2020 presidential election and during the height of the COVID pandemic.

The documentary showcases 200 different Americans from across the country, sharing how they really feel about the state of our nation.

Stillman says they traveled to 30 different states, totaling over 17,000 miles.

"People think that we live in a country that fifty percent of the people feel one way and fifty percent of the other feel the opposite way. And what we found, is you have fifteen percent of the extreme left, fifteen percent of the extreme right, but seventy percent of the people are someplace in the middle," said Stillman.

There will be a screening of the film this Sunday at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Binghamton. You do not need tickets, but donations are encouraged.
